State Poultry Research Station

of the Livestock Farming Institute of NAAS

UAEN

The State Poultry Research Station of the Institute of Animal Science of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine is the only scientific institution in the country that provides comprehensive research support for the poultry industry. Its activities cover large specialized enterprises, family farms, and private households, focusing on the main areas of genetic resources, egg incubation, poultry rearing technologies, feeding, health, and disease prevention.

The primary function of the Station as a research institution is to conduct scientific studies aimed at solving the current challenges of the poultry sector — from improving feeding systems to enhancing the viability and productivity of birds.

Another important direction of activity is the conservation, improvement, and use of the genetic pool of domestic poultry in breeding programs to develop new valuable forms. The Station maintains a unique collection of Ukrainian breeds and populations of chickens and turkeys at its experimental farm, which is the only one of its kind in Ukraine. The farm serves as a testing and implementation base for scientific and technological developments.

The third key function of the Station is to maintain close cooperation with producers. The institution provides farmers and household producers with science-based solutions, professional consultations, training, and production support, helping them to adapt modern technologies that increase efficiency and competitiveness.

The Station comprises two scientific departments:

The Station also operates the experimental farm «Conservation of the National Poultry Gene Pool», where breeds and populations of egg-type and dual-purpose chickens as well as turkeys of Ukrainian origin and breeding are maintained.
